Our beloved parents, Marcelino and Priscilla Jaminal lost their lives to robbers in our home in Tabon, Kawit, Cavite on November 3, 2004. The criminals not only took our parents' lives but also a huge part of all of our lives. Furthermore, numerous pieces of their jewelry and belongings, many of which with sentimental value were stolen and never recovered. The self-confessed assailant is Christopher Cajalili, a drug addict who lives in Wakas, Kawit, Cavite and the alleged mastermind is Elsie Reyes (her married name, has other aliases and is known mostly as Elsie Arigo-Laurente), his live-in partner. The baranggay captain of Wakas also talked to us stating that they were both known drug addicts and has numerous conflicts with neighbors and even with relatives. Christopher Cajalili was caught on the November 8, 2004 at Sun Valley Village through the efforts of the Pasay and Kawit police. Apparently, rumors were going around that a bounty was placed on the head of Cajalili ranging from P500T to P2M. Upon hearing this, Elsie Reyes (a.k.a. Elsie Arigo-Laurente) went to the police and aided the authorities in the capture of the killer. At the police stations in Pasay and in Kawit, Cajalili confessed in the commission of the crimes and said that Elsie Reyes (a.k.a. Elsie Arigo-Laurente) was the mastermind. He alleged that he was kept in their house for 3 days without food, given only shabu and other drugs by this Elsie prior to the incident. I myself heard him confess this in front of our family and relatives and the Chief of police of Kawit at the Kawit Municipal Jail. I later saw him and Elsie Reyes (a.k.a. Elsie Arigo-Laurente) at the Imus, Cavite Jail the day before we went back to the States. However, we were not allowed to get close to them nor talk to them per jail authorities regulation. We had to abide by the guidelines that Philippine law had set to protect criminals. Last January 20, 2005, an initial hearing for arraignment was held. For the arraignment, Elsie Reyes (a.k.a. Elsie Arigo-Laurente) hired a private attorney, a certain Atty. Layola who filed a petition for Qwash and Bail (pardon me for my legal illiteracy if I spelled it wrong) claiming there is no sufficient evidence to link her. Allegedly, this Attorney Layola had previously represented a sister, Elma Arigo Villegas in numerous cases in the Philippines regarding monetary conflicts. Elma Arigo Villegas is allegedly financing the legal needs of her sister. It has been rumored that Elma Arigo-Villegas is now residing in California, was able to flee from the Philippines where she has legal suits, by staying as a TNT (illegal immigrant) then eventually marrying a U.S. citizen, hence was able to stay in the States. The main reason this e-mail is being sent to all of you is that the courts will be needing evidence to link Elsie Reyes (a.k.a. Elsie Arigo-Laurente). When Christopher Cajalili was caught, there was media coverage that televised his statement linking Elsie Villegas as the mastermind. These were on telecast approximately on the 10th of November when Cajalili was caught in the Pasay Police Station. Unfortunately, our family avoided watching television or listening to the radio because it would have been unbearable for us to witness, hence was unable to tape it. If anyone was able to tape any of these, please e-mail me back at marcjaminal@yahoo.com so we can present it in the court. In spite of prior statements, Cajalili does not want to give any statements now implicating Elsie Villegas (a.k.a. Elsie Arigo-Villegas). allegedly bowing to pressure from the Arigo and Laurente families and their the lawyer. Unfortunately, his previous statements were not under oath or given with an attorney present so we will be needing these tapes really badly. I had been informed by numerous people in the Philippines and in the States especially from former US veterans that they had recieved mass e-mails informing them of the incident in November (much of the information was erroneous especially about the suspects being relatives). I would ask everyone to please forward this e-mail enmasse to everyone you know, even if they do not know my parents because maybe somehow someone may be able to help.
